UC Technical Project Manager

Location: Eatontown, NJ office; Boston, MA office; or Albany, NY office

The Unified Communications (UC) Technical Project Manager (PM) is a Senior member of the Project Management Office (PMO), which is the centralized point of customer engagement, resource management, deliverable assurance, and project/program reporting. In general, PMs will manage complex IT projects based on the Project Management Institute Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMI PMBOK) framework and established internal workflows, tools and templates.

The UC PM will lead multiple projects primarily focused on Cisco’s Unified Communications engagements. In addition, the UC PM will also manage multi-functional projects involving, but not limited to the following technologies:

  • (Cisco) Routing and Switching
  • Wireless
  • Internet of Things
  • Storage and Storage Area Networking
  • Cloud-Deployed/Cloud-Delivered Software
  • Data Center Networking
  • Migrations
  • Upgrades
  • Security

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:  OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.  

  • Own full project life cycle from initiation to closure
  • Disseminate requirements, develop and manage multi-functional project schedules; identify risks, manage scope and resource changes, and monitor progress against plan, advising stakeholders of change requests
  • Maintain current documentation on all projects including project plan, RAID log, status reports, meeting minutes, lessons learned, timesheets, budget tracking, change orders, and resource utilization reporting according to company and industry standards and best practices
  • Ability to gather, assess, and provide sound recommendations of options during complicated project/program deployments
  • Identify and drive resolution of issues that affect project schedule including critical path analysis
  • Define, generate, and assess performance metrics (KPI’s) for the project(s) ensuring all necessary data are available for critical decision-making
  • Proactively communicate to management and executives on project status, risks and change control
  • Ensure effective communication within the multi-functional teams: Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Customer Success, Managed Services, Accounting, SUB Contractors and key stakeholders
  • Manage projects with top-down oversight throughout entire execution to ensure success as defined by adherence to standards of scope, budget and timeline
  • Deliver a creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the ‘big picture’ view

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or 10+ years of equivalent professional experience required
    6+ years hands-on experience in technical IT Infrastructure related Project Management
    Experience managing projects focused on Cisco Collaboration Products (UC, WebEx, or Contact Center)

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience working with an IT Professional Services organization (Value-Added Reseller or Manufacturer)
  • PMP® Certification, ITIL 4.0 Certification, and/or an Agile Certification is strongly preferred
  • Waterfall and Agile methodologies experience
  • Experience in the deployment of Cisco products and technologies, such as: Unified Communications, Telecom Technologies, WebEx, AV, Video Conferencing, Wireless, Networking, Data Center, Cloud, and Security
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Project and all Microsoft Office Tools
