Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will direct and oversee all the financial activities of the corporation including preparation of current financial reports as well as summaries and forecasts for future business growth and general economic outlook. The controller position is accountable for the financial operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. The individual will collaborate with senior leaders to coordinate priorities leading to the aggressive, profitable growth of the company. Assist and advise senior management on financial issues. Manage all banking relationships, monitoring compliance and resolving issues.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include the following: Other duties may be assigned
• Direct the preparation of all financial reports, including, but not limited to, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, reports to senior leadership, reports for government regulatory agencies, and bank required reporting.
• Ensure the depth of understanding of the financial impact of processes and decisions throughout the organization.
• Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, maintaining, and enforcing financial policies and procedures.
• Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
• Oversee the accounting department including budget preparation.
• Oversees, analyzes, and uploads financial data and presents financial results in an accurate and timely manner.
• Meet regularly with department heads to keep them informed and to offer counsel.
• Review reports analyzing sales projections and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and suggest methods of improving the planning processes as appropriate.
• Assist in the development of appropriate metrics, key performance indicators, and reporting mechanisms for all activities of the business.
• Standardizes Sales compensation plans and metrics. Provides dashboard and reports.
• Provide input to Information Technology to ensure that our technology systems adequately support financial reporting, and analysis functions.
• Confer with Senior Leadership and department heads to coordinate and prioritize budgeting and financial planning.
• Study long- range economic trends and project company prospects for future growth in overall sale and market share, opportunities for acquisitions or expansion into new product lines. Participate in building of business plans to justify expansion.
• Cultivate banking and insurance relationships.
• Monitor all transactions effecting back covenants and report on changes to plan. Keep top management apprised of significant financial issues.
• Motivate and lead a high-performance team; attract, recruit, and retain required members of the finance, team; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.
• Creative problem solver who understands the dynamics of all aspects of the business.
Minimum Education and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 10 years in a leadership role
MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
Minimal travel required.
