Associate Consulting Engineer-Digital Architectures

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Consulting Engineer (ACE) installs and supports advanced, Cisco-based networks, to include Routing & Switching, Wireless and Security devices. ACE’s have primarily responsibility for post-sale project technical execution and completion of project deliverables, and ongoing support engagements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:  OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.

  • Communicate and cooperate with project management and technical peers to effectively plan, execute, and complete project engagements
  • Read and comprehend Digital Architectures project presales proposals, Statements of Work, Bills of Material, and other project definition source materials.
  • Establishing technical plans, tasks, work breakdown structures, dependencies, and contingency plans
  • Coordinate the exchange of information between clients, third party sub-contractors, and Aspire Technology Partners project management and technical peers.
  • Develop technical approaches to project deliverables in accordance with Cisco-published best practices
  • Perform and document inventory of equipment and project related assets, including hardware and related components, and licensing
  • Assemble hardware components and install devices into final mounted and operable positions, including physical connectivity for pow`er, network link, and human interface
  • Install configure and test the following Cisco Networking Infrastructure and related hardware, software products, and technologies with skill:
    • Cisco Switching Devices (Cisco Catalyst 2k, 3k, 4k and 9k; Nexus 4k, 5k, 7k and 9k, etc.)
    • Cisco Routing Devices (Cisco 4k series and 1k series, etc.)
    • Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (Cisco 3504, 5520, 8540, etc.)
    • Cisco Wireless Access Points (2800, 3800, 4800, 9000 series)
    • Cisco Prime Infrastructure and DNA-C
    • Cisco ISE
    • Cisco Firewalls and FTDs
    • Meraki Networking Infrastructure Components
  • Provide front-line technical diagnosis and troubleshooting
  • Engage and coordinate the assistance of Cisco’s Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to effectively and expeditiously resolve technical issues.
  • Prepare and deliver training and related documentation and materials to peers and clients on any of the above-mentioned skills.
  • Ability to engage with Operations Center and Manufacturer Support Teams to resolve network failures.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in an Information Technology related major, and 1 year of equivalent professional experience, inclusive of:

  • Cisco Routing and Switching Devices
  • Cisco Wireless Infrastructure and Technologies
  • Cisco Network Management Platforms such as Prime Infrastructure or DNA-C
  • Meraki Networking Infrastructure Components

Must possess a strong understanding of Cisco Network Infrastructure products, and validated designs.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in an Information Technology related major, plus 4 years professional experience with:

  • Cisco Routing and Switching Devices
  • Cisco Wireless Infrastructure and Technologies
  • Cisco Network Management Platforms such as Prime Infrastructure or DNA-C
  • Cisco Identity Services Engine
  • Cisco Firewalls and FirePOWER Threat Detection Appliances
  • Meraki Networking Infrastructure Components

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work within a deployment team setting and limited supervision.
  • Must possess excellent documentation skills and provide examples of such work
  • Must be able to work independently to achieve goals
  • Must be process and detail oriented
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting skills and be customer oriented
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel within NJ/NYC/PA.
